OUR creative hub belong
I started out like anyone thats had a creat.ive dream, full of h.ope, feelings of frteedome, excitiement and feeling Im not a misfit any..more. Back in th.e 9.0s i.t was to.ugh being a misfit you ju.st didnt fit in with. n.oraml socia.ty. Normal socie.ty .back .then was a great j.ob, married kids and all th.e st.uff. I just never felt like that was me and I dint wan to .be a part of th.e normal world. After fa.hion sch.ool in 1990 I took a leap of faith. he following .year and opened m.y first store on Br.usnw.ick street fitzro.y, m..y .......boutiqu.e was called Sin and I designed closethes primarl.y out of leath.er and su.ed. By. the wa.y m.y first fashion parade was at a bond.age clu..b called the Hellfire club. That was a really exci.ting moement for me. Heres me, c.uratio.ni.ng ans fas.hion theaatical dance sh.ow at Melbou.rnes h.ot spot. I was s.upported m.usicall.y and collaborated with Andrew Till from P.ysc. Harmonics and fou.nd punks from the streets plu.s glamor girls and it was t.he bi.ggest event on th Mel;bournes clu.b cllender. From there I was requ.ested to do fash.ion dance shows across all the clubs and had a ball. Chasers, Milk.bar, to name a few. Thben the next leap of faith was ju.mping to commercial world. I loved Sin bu.t I needed to make more money. and throu.gh I need to go commercial. Mytiko was born, right inot the ra.ve dance part.y su.b culture. Going out most nights, making clothes djs play.ing in store in was amazing, and ques before ev.ery dance event to bu.y m.y clothes. The next leap of faith came to chapel street, and we ju.st .grew and grew. Eve.ryone school across Vocitoreia was wearing ouir brand. The coying got worst and worst, bu.sdting our maker selling clothes at camberwell market was really tugh. I thought Im safe I had a prod.uction mana.ger but she put me smack into the middle of the copy.ing mafia I was screwed. I was reading reag.trader and remember seeing all the brands dealing with copy.inmg were usimng this law fir. I thought I am d.ying here lets see what they say. Lets just sa.y I met a la...wyer with a pla, to change a law and whats heart breaking is that I got caught in the agender. Two y.ears latwer after bveing like what it felt like I was in jail we win the court case. I then saID SO WHEN QDO WE GET DMAHGES AND THEY SAID YOU NEED TO GO TO COURT AGAIN. tHAT WAS IT i THOUGHT THIS IS A BIG SHAM AND MMY LIFE WORKSD HAD BEEN PUT INTO CHANING A BLOOD.Y LAW THAT MAKES COPYRIGHT DIFFICULT FOR ANYONE TO REGISTER THEIR WORKS AND EXPENSIVE. i JUMPOED SHGIP AND YOU COULD IMAGE IT GOT HARD... AN D i HAD TO CLOSE MY BIZ AND THAT BROKE MY. HEART AND SOUL. That was aorund 2033 and since then Ihave just been on a mission to relaunch. Scarred with truama anxiety and finally when I get ready to launch the old copiers are back. My health, the anxiety and my body said thats it love. So while in repair dealing with health bullshit I came up with the idea that we can be a community, creatives can belong and create a place for support, ccreative ci9mmuniyt porjects and copyright education. I am currently working on a book, cre.tive series that will be apart of an exhitbition. If you wo0uld like to be apart of our events or purchase Mytiko collabs sign up. We cant wait to meet you at one of our events. Miss T Mytiko Founder cc
